The Restaurant

The old original farmhouse has been lovingly restored over the last four years. It now houses a beautifully designed restaurant, which can seat up to 60 guests.

As a visitor at !Khwa ttu, you can enjoy a tasty breakfast or lunch in the restaurant – or enjoy coffee or tea with our delicious cakes on the patio. We can also arrange for special functions or celebrations. (see our Corporate and Special Functions page).

Our restaurant is run by a team consisting of a professional chef and San trainees. We aim to ensure that all of our guests enjoy a top-quality experience. We can offer you a variety of wines produced in our area and our menu has been developed to offer you tasty variety.

Whether you plan a quick visit to !Khwa ttu for lunch, or aim to spend more time with us, we can guarantee you a positive and thoroughly enjoyable eating experience!

The Arts and Craft Shop

We are extremely proud of our new Arts and Crafts Shop at !Khwa ttu. We have worked hard to build strong links with partner San community organisations across Southern Africa. We are pleased to be able to say that all of our arts and crafts are genuinely produced by the San themselves; from people living in villages based within the remotest parts of Southern Africa.

For all of us who work here at !Khwa ttu – and for the people who support our project - this commitment it is very important. We believe that San-owned businesses and initiatives are crucial in order to alleviate the terrible poverty that most San have to live with every day of their lives.

We ensure that we apply fair trade practices in all our contracts with our San crafts people and artists.

All of our products for sale to the public are authentic and are original items that have not been mass-produced or factory-generated. Some of the most beautiful pieces you can find at !Khwa ttu are made from ostrich eggshell. For hundreds of years the San have produced ostrich eggshell jewellery using only simple hand tools. This is an extremely slow and laborious process which requires a great deal of skill. In our shop you can purchase the most up-to-date designs as well as traditional pieces; such as stunning necklaces, bracelets, wraps and bags. Each item is original and yes – still produced entirely by hand and traditional tools!
