San Guided Bush Experience

This fascinating insight into the traditions, knowledge and modern-day life of the San involves accompanying a group of qualified San guides. Our guides will lead you in a truly unique experience that will last between 2 and 3 hours and include all of the following:

  • Photo Gallery and Audio Visual film – This new exhibition looks at the reasons why our San ancestors chose to distinguish special places in the landscape by creating ‘rock art’ (images painted or carved into rock) that can be interpreted today in order for us to understand more about ancient San beliefs and customs.
  • Interactive Discussions with San Guides – Most tourist activities which focus upon the San rarely provide visitors with a chance to meet the San themselves. At !Khwa ttu, our guests can enjoy direct interaction with our San members of staff and will hear honest and realistic accounts of the past and present lives of the San. Visitors can also hear examples of our famous ‘click’ San languages being spoken and can find out more about many of the modern-day initiatives that the San are now involved in.
  • Get on board a open vehicle to spot our game – Take a drive through the our idyllic landscape. !Khwa ttu is a 850ha game reserve and is home to a wide array of indigenous animals such as Eland, Zebra, Oryx, Bontebok and Springbok.
  • Enjoy our Nature Trails - Leave the vehicle behind and join the professional San guides on an easy nature walk. Learn about the secrets and traditional stories of the past. Listen to the experiences of contemporary San as they tell you of their own memories of hunting, gathering, tracking and knowledge of fauna and flora.
  • Enjoy a Refreshing Drink at the Boma– your San hosts will accompany you to our beautifully designed Boma, constructed of natural materials. Nestled at the highest point in the landscape of !Khwa ttu you will experience breathtaking views of Table Mountain to the south and the Langebaan lagoon to the north. Sip away and relax as you enjoy the peace and tranquility of our treasured land.

Please also remember that in addition to enjoying all of the above activities, you may wish to factor time into your visit in order to spend time in our Restaurant and Arts and Crafts Shop.
